Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 17 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ZBTB17 gene.

This gene encodes a zinc finger protein involved in the regulation of c-myc. The symbol MIZ1 has also been associated with PIAS2 which is a different gene located on chromosome 18. [provided by RefSeq].
Function: May function as a housekeeping DNA-binding protein that regulates the expression of specific genes. Has been shown to bind to the promoters of adenovirus major late protein and cyclin D1 and activate transcription. Also has potent growth arrest activity, probably through inhibition of cell cycle progression. Required for early embryonic development during gastrulation.
