Statherin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the STATH gene. Function: Salivary protein that stabilizes saliva supersaturated with calcium salts by inhibiting the precipitation of calcium phosphate salts. It also modulates hydroxyapatite crystal formation on the tooth surface.
